Emergence Artist Profile: Ian Mutch
Photos by Michelle Troop.
What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Mango and coconut with yoghurt (shortly followed by a cooked brunch and coffee). Damn i’m hungry again…
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m painting a cover of an old book I found in an oppe shop last week, plus some other works on paper and a couple of mural sketches.
What inspires you to create?
Travel and my two year old.
What kind of reaction do you want your art to evoke?
Thought. But not too serious, mostly I’d like to know the viewer is enjoying the artwork and being entertained by the details.
What are you working on for the Emergence Creative Festival this year?
Drinking, small talk and learning from industry big wigs. I’ll also be painting murals and showing some limited edition prints.
Where will we see you and your work throughout the Emergence Creative Festival?
I’ll be painting live art during the opening night showcase and I’ll have artwork on display at AMR Shire gallery. I’m Djing Friday night at Leeuwin Estate too.
